Lightweight EN-D two-liner for serious distance and adventure flying

The HERO 2 is AirDesign’s lightweight EN-D two-liner, designed for experienced pilots whose priorities are cross-country performance, vol-biv, hike-and-fly and a compact travelling kit. It is not simply a lighter conventional wing: the two-line architecture, 6.95 flat aspect ratio and EN-D certification put it firmly in the advanced-performance end of the range.

Cloudbase perspective

The HERO 2 makes sense when a pilot genuinely needs two-liner performance and has the experience, currency and active-piloting skills to use it appropriately. Its low weight is attractive, but weight alone is not a reason to step into an EN-D. If the objective is high-performance XC with a lower certification category, the VOLT 5 is the obvious AirDesign comparison. We recommend choosing the HERO 2 around actual experience, recent airtime and all-up flying weight rather than performance ambition alone.

Nose Guard patches reinforce the leading-edge rod area. The standard configuration uses 13 mm Aramid risers; optional Superlight Dyneema risers reduce wing weight by approximately 110 g.

Sail: Dominico DOKDO-10DSF double-coated 25 g/m² top and bottom; Dominico DOKDO-204432FM / Skytex 27 hard ribs.

Lines: Edelrid 8001/U and 9200 series. Standard risers: Cousin 13 mm Aramid. Optional SL risers: Edelrid Taurus 3.7 mm Dyneema. Connections: 4.3 mm JOO-TECH maillons or AirDesign soft links depending on riser selection.
