AirDesign eXTA
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
AirDesign eXTA — #EscapeTheMatrix
Lightweight mountain parakite
The eXTA is AirDesign’s lightweight parakite developed around mountain flying, hike-and-fly and a hybrid style that bridges conventional paragliding and parakiting. Its low aspect ratio, compact construction and broad loading possibilities allow the same platform to cover very different pilot profiles depending on size and all-up weight.
Cloudbase perspective
The eXTA should be sized around both all-up flying weight and intended use, not weight alone. A larger, more lightly loaded eXTA can provide a very different experience from a smaller, highly loaded configuration. That makes an honest discussion about experience, terrain and the type of flying you want to do particularly important before choosing a size.
Construction and features
- Accessible handling: low aspect ratio and hybrid paraglider/parakite design intended to combine stability with responsive control.
- Adjustable brake geometry: brake attachment position can be tuned around the neutral factory setting to alter control pressure and response.
- Durability: reinforced material is used around higher-wear areas, including the leading edge and outer cells.
- Nitinol reinforcement: supports the leading-edge profile while retaining compact packing characteristics.
- Mountain-focused construction: lightweight build with a size 16 wing weight of 2.20 kg.
- Technical features: Duralight construction, Sharknose, Nitinol rods, 3D cuts, Vortex Holes and Razor Edge on applicable sizes.

Important operating notes
- Big ears are not used on the eXTA.
- The wing can collapse and should be treated as an aircraft requiring appropriate pilot skill and judgement.
- AirDesign identifies compatible conventional harness options; a dedicated parakite harness is not inherently required.
- Speed, behaviour and control response vary materially with size, all-up weight and conditions.
- Appropriate instruction is strongly recommended when moving into parakiting, speed-flying-style use or unfamiliar loading configurations.
