Tyron Abraham
I’m Ty, originally from South Africa and now based on the west coast of Australia — arguably one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world to goon around on a Dune Rider.
Growing up, I was always outdoors and looking for something to get stuck into. Sport, BMX, skating, snowboarding, getting dirty and generally finding ways to have fun kept me busy. As I got older and life became a little more complicated, that search for thrills never really went away.
Eventually, I found motorsport — particularly drifting — and went from driving for fun to competing, instructing and taking passengers on demonstration and promotional rides.
I’ve always been drawn to the freedom and excitement that comes from doing something a little outside the ordinary.
Before paragliding, I spent time skydiving, which gave me my first real taste of being in the air and the freedom that comes with it. During COVID, I transitioned into paragliding and discovered a completely different way to experience flight — more independent, more accessible and something I could throw in a bag and take almost anywhere.
It quickly became the next chapter of my flying journey.
I’ve now been paragliding for around five years and, coincidentally, started flying at about the same time the parakite revolution was beginning. It immediately caught my attention.
I progressed from full-size paragliders to mini wings and eventually into parakites — and that’s where things really clicked.
Since then, I’ve owned and flown a wide range of parakites across different brands, sizes and aspect ratios. That experience has given me a solid understanding of how different designs behave, the flying characteristics they produce and what works for different styles of flying.
My ever-growing parakite quiver currently runs from 15m through to 24m, with different sizes and aspect ratios depending on what kind of flying — and what kind of fun — I’m chasing.
Coastal flying is where I’m happiest, and living on the west coast of Australia gives me an incredible playground to explore. But flying for me has never been only about the local spots.
I live for travel and culture, and wherever I go, the gliders tend to come with me. There’s something pretty special about exploring another part of the world, experiencing a new culture and finding somewhere new to fly along the way.
I’d been following Dune Rider closely and loved watching the brand develop. What really stood out to me was the community around it and the focus on development, progression and — most importantly — having fun.
That’s something I genuinely believe in, and I’m stoked to now be part of the Cloudbase × Dune Rider team.
I’m here to help more people discover parakites — whether that’s through advice, glider demos, community demo days, sales or creating content that gets people excited to go flying. Hopefully, one day, I’ll be able to add coaching to that list too.
Most importantly, I’m here to keep it fun.
Parakites are ridiculously enjoyable, and I want to help more people experience what makes them so addictive — getting outside, getting airborne, exploring new places and discovering that it might just be the most fun you’ll ever have with your pants on.
If you'd like a demo, or you just want to discuss what sizing may be right for you, please reach out anytime.
See you on the dunes!
