DUNE RIDER X CLDBSE

Cloudbase is the official Asia-Pacific distribution partner for Dune Rider, supporting pilots throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

We are a trusted Australian paragliding school and brand with more than 15 years of experience supporting, training and developing pilots, both in Australia and overseas via our extensive tour program.

Our mission is simple: to grow parakiting the right way.

We’re not just here to sell wings. We’re here to build a strong, knowledgeable and connected community around Dune Rider, giving pilots direct access to the products, experience and support they need. Backed by our experienced instructor and pilot team, we can provide genuine advice and practical support to help pilots get the most from their flying.

Working closely with Dune Rider in Europe, we provide a direct connection between the people designing and developing the wings and the pilots flying them throughout the Asia-Pacific region. That means genuine product knowledge, honest advice, opportunities to experience and demo the wings, and ongoing support before, during, and long after your purchase.

Cloudbase supports and supplies pilots throughout Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asian region, including Southeast and East Asia.

Our goal is to make Dune Rider accessible throughout Asia-Pacific while helping develop a thriving parakite community — more pilots, more opportunities to experience the wings, better access to support, and a closer connection between our region and the ongoing development of this rapidly evolving style of flying.

Outside the APAC region?
Cloudbase does not ship to countries outside Australia, New Zealand or Asia.

If you're located elsewhere in the world, please contact Dune Rider HQ directly so the team can work out how best to support you in putting a Dune Rider product above your head — or under your bum!

Born in the dunes. Supported across APAC.

ABOUT THE DUNE RIDER BRAND

Dune Rider grew from a close-knit group of pilots, designers and friends united by a shared obsession with dune flying.

The products may begin with the design of a parakite, but their character is shaped through constant testing, refinement and feedback from pilots who spend serious time flying on the coast. That real-world experience feeds directly back into the development process, helping ensure each product performs the way it should when it matters.

It is a genuinely collaborative approach: design, testing and pilot feedback working together to create equipment that feels intuitive, capable and properly suited to the unique demands of dune soaring.

The result is equipment developed by people who understand the environment it is built for — because they fly it themselves.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Bryan van Ostheim
Founder & Product Designer, Dune Rider

Heralded as something of a wunderkind of modern kite design, Bryan van Ostheim has spent more than a decade pushing the boundaries of flexible-wing aerodynamics, kite development and high-performance ram-air design.

His fascination with flight began as a child in the Netherlands, flying and modifying kites with his father. That curiosity became a career — and an obsession with understanding not simply how a wing flies, but how it can be made to fly better.

Bryan went on to spend almost five years in the airborne wind-energy industry with Kitepower, designing enormous traction kites engineered to generate electricity and withstand pulling forces exceeding five tonnes. His experience spans inflatable, single-skin, hybrid and high-performance ram-air wings, along with the complex bridle systems, structural loading and aerodynamic behaviour behind them.

Through Bryan van Ostheim Kite Design, his work has extended into some extraordinary applications, specialising in heavily loaded kite systems from approximately 25m² to more than 250m² and contributing to ambitious projects including SP80 and Beyond the Sea. His innovative work partnerships have also resulted in patented power kite and bridle systems.

Then came paragliding.

And, more importantly, the dunes.

For Bryan, dune soaring brought together two worlds — a professional lifetime designing depowerable wings and a newfound obsession with free flight.

But he saw the potential for something different.

Something that could combine the intuitive connection of free flight with the pitch control, depower and dynamic energy of a kite. A wing built not simply to soar the dunes, but to play with them.

Bryan spent more than a year developing the concept before the first parakite prototype ever left the ground. What followed was an intensive process of design, testing and refinement, drawing on everything he had learned from more than a decade at the forefront of kite development.

The objective was deceptively simple: feel

A wing that communicates. A wing that turns energy into movement. A wing where glide, dive, roll, pitch and control come together so naturally that the aircraft begins to feel like an extension of the pilot.

A new way to interact with the wind.

Enter Dune Rider. Born in the dunes.

DUNE RIDER'S MISSION

Dune Rider’s mission is to develop parakites that deliver a more dynamic, responsive and engaging form of coastal flying for experienced pilots.

Driven by a deep connection to dune soaring, the team focuses on wing designs that combine efficient glide, strong energy retention and precise handling across a wide range of conditions. Reflex-based profiles and carefully developed control characteristics are used to create wings that feel lively without sacrificing predictability.

Every design is refined through extensive real-world testing on the dunes, with feedback from skilled pilots feeding directly into the development process.

The aim is simple: to keep evolving parakites that offer confident control, usable performance and the kind of flying experience that keeps dedicated dune pilots coming back for more.

WHY CHOOSE A DUNE RIDER PRODUCT

The Dunes Are the Test Ground
Dune Rider develops and refines its parakites in the environment they are built for: the coast. Regular testing on the dunes allows the team to evaluate handling, glide, energy retention and control in real conditions, then feed those observations directly back into each stage of development.

Built Around Direct Feel
A Dune Rider wing is designed to communicate clearly with the pilot. Bryan’s “Direct Feel” philosophy centres on intuitive feedback, precise response and a strong sense of connection between pilot and wing. The goal is a parakite that feels natural, predictable and highly responsive when flying close to terrain.

A Community That Helps Shape the Brand
Dune Rider is built around more than equipment alone. Pilots, team riders and the wider community all contribute through feedback, experience and shared knowledge. Open communication is part of that culture, whether someone is looking for advice, product support or simply sharing how and where they are flying.
