Coastal Cliff Soaring Tandem Flight

Important: This experience is currently intended for people who live on or can readily travel to the NSW Central Coast. Coastal paragliding is highly weather-dependent, and arranging suitable flying opportunities for visitors travelling from Sydney or further afield can be difficult.

Experience coastal paragliding above the NSW Central Coast with a Cloudbase tandem pilot. Our coastal tandem flights are designed as a relaxed introduction to paragliding, whether you are simply curious about the sport or considering learning to fly yourself.

The experience

Flights are typically conducted from suitable coastal sites around Crackneck Lookout and Forresters Beach when conditions allow. After the required paperwork and a pre-flight briefing, launch generally involves only a few committed steps before you are airborne.

Once in the air, you will be seated comfortably in the harness with open views along the coastline. We can communicate throughout the flight and, when conditions and circumstances are suitable, you may also have the opportunity to take the controls and experience steering the paraglider yourself.

Typical flight duration: approximately 30 minutes, although actual airtime depends entirely on the weather and flying conditions on the day.

What to bring

• Suitable enclosed footwear such as runners, cross-trainers or light hiking shoes
• Sunscreen and sunglasses
• A windbreaker or jacket — it can be considerably cooler in the air

Weather and seasonal availability

Paragliding is completely weather-dependent and coastal flying requires the right wind direction and strength. On the Central Coast, the winter period is commonly dominated by westerly or offshore winds that are unsuitable for our coastal tandem sites. As a result, we generally do not operate coastal tandem flights from around mid-May until approximately early to mid-October.

Gift vouchers are valid for 36 months from the date of purchase. If a voucher would otherwise expire during, or be materially affected by, the non-conducive winter flying period, Cloudbase will honour the voucher beyond that period so you are not disadvantaged simply because suitable coastal flying conditions were unavailable.

Passenger requirements

• Minimum age: 14 years
• Passengers under 18 require parental or guardian consent
• Maximum passenger weight is generally 110–115 kg, subject to the conditions and equipment configuration on the day

Gift vouchers

Gift vouchers are emailed after purchase. They may be transferred to another person during their validity period, but cannot be exchanged for cash or website store products and are non-refundable.

If you are travelling from outside the NSW Central Coast, please contact Cloudbase before purchasing. The unpredictable nature of suitable coastal conditions can make it difficult to coordinate a flight around a short visit or fixed travel date.
