PRODUCT OVERVIEW

AirDesign EAZY 4 — EN-A progression wing

The EAZY 4 is AirDesign’s current EN-A wing for pilots learning to fly and progressing beyond their first flights. Rather than treating it purely as a school glider, Cloudbase sees the EAZY 4 as a progression platform: predictable inflation and generous brake travel for early training, with enough handling and versatility to remain useful as a pilot begins thermalling, soaring, travelling and making early cross-country flights.

Who it suits

It is aimed primarily at new and developing pilots who want an EN-A wing with a broad usable life rather than something they expect to replace immediately after training. AirDesign positions it from beginner use through early independent flying, with a lighter construction than the previous generation and design changes intended to improve inflation, roll stability and control margin.

Why the design matters

  • Smooth inflation: lighter construction, large air intakes and Nitinol reinforcement are designed to help the canopy rise progressively and resist overshooting.
  • Roll stability: winglets and revised arc geometry are used to calm roll behaviour and support predictable handling.
  • More brake margin: AirDesign increased brake travel by 10 cm compared with the previous generation, giving developing pilots more margin before the stall point.
  • Short Line Concept: shorter lines bring the canopy closer to the pilot, assisting inflation and making the wing easier to manage on launch and landing.
  • EN-A certification: every listed size is certified EN-A.

Cloudbase perspective

For a first wing, certification alone does not tell the whole story. We look for manageable launch behaviour, clear feedback, usable brake range and a wing that supports progression rather than getting in the pilot’s way. The EAZY 4 is positioned squarely around those priorities. Choosing the correct size and where you sit within its certified weight range still matters, so contact Cloudbase if you would like help matching the wing to your all-up flying weight and intended use.
